Cajun wrote a very long and detailed post on Sunday, but then it was eventually deleted (by Cajun! LOL), so just a few things everyone should know:

1. Keep your posts on-topic. Don't try to derail threads by moving the goalpost.
2. Avoid personal insults. You can address what someone says without calling them names.
3. Make sure your posts make sense. Put some damn effort into them.
4. Don't just make shit up. Stuff that is obviously absolute crap will be axed without remorse.
5. Don't write a really good post, and then insert something covered by 1-4 above in it. If you don't have the ability to make a good post without inserting crap into, then you aren't adult enough to play in this sandbox.

If you do these things, you should be fine.

Next, we're being really strict. Hey, you guys complained about the place going downhill, so we decided to step up and do a better job. You don't like it? Tough. We might not be as strict in the future after everyone settles down and the place improves. But for now? Anything that even approaches being a problem is subject to deletion.

Next, you want to make claims that this is based on ideology or political bias? Don't. Don't even think about it. If you could see all the posts we've deleted the past few days, you'd see that none of the mods are showing favorites. If you don't believe that, too bad. Get over yourself. We don't even want to see this argument. If you honestly feel the mods are treating you unfairly, then email them, and talk about it in private. But keep it off the boards.

Next, no one is going to be banned, even temporarily, without some serious one-on-one discussion first. If your post gets deleted, then post better. But don't start worrying that you'll suddenly be banned. It's not going to work like that. Deletions are just deletions. They don't mean anything special.

Finally, however, if you repeatedly shit on the same thread, we do have the option to ban you from that thread. It's a nice compromise way to easily keep you from a thread you can't behave in, without in any way impacting your ability to post elsewhere on the site. You don't like it? Again, post better, and it won't be a problem.

I'll keep this thread open for @Cajun54 and @NPT to add their own admonitions, but if anyone else posts in it, especially to complain, expect it to be deleted forthwith.

What Goat said covers it very well. And....I deleted the Cajun essay basically for point 5 occurring often and the necessity to delete most of the post in the thread after Goat and I commented in detail. I want to emphasize that complaining about the moderation in a snarky or whining post will come down and will not be responded to. Email your complaints as all three of our emails are available which can't be said for most posters. I assure you we will be fair and our political leanings will play no part in our decisions to delete a post or thread.
