BiG jockeys just passed the 3/4-mile pole for the season. … And down the stretch they come.
My paramutual ticket for the BiG COTY 1/2 Mile pole is no longer worth the paper it’s printed on.
With Ferentz’ mount breaking stride, all boxed exacta tickets are now losers.

2. Tucker, MSU — (still) easily the most improved squad to this point, compared to expectations and perceived talent.
— No longer appears to be the little brother this year. Hard for me to believe they can beat both PSU or OSU.
3. Day, tOSU — responded well to Oregon loss with improved QB and defensive play. Looks like (it’s even better than) a more typical tOSU squad now.
— Weathered Nittany Lion challenge, undefeated stretch run may pull off a win at the wire. May need style points vs. Sparty.
5. Fleck, Minnesota, made up ground with a 4 game winning streak, following tOSU out of the gate.
— Running the ball effectively even without Ibrahim.
6. Cryst, Wisconsin, made up ground with a 3 game winning streak. Stopped turning the ball over.
4. Harbaugh, Michigan — run pass balance looks like his ranked Stanford squads — run heavy — can they out execute opposing defenses down the stretch?
— Even with all the passing yards, Go Blue offense didn’t out execute Go Green defense. Needed a TD instead of a FG to keep up with Walker.
— Likely out of the money now.
1. Ferentz, Iowa — lead at the half mile pole.
— Broke stride, and got passed by Cryst and Fleck
— Boilers and Badgers turned this contender into an also ran.

Our fave jockey (CTA) needed to circle the field. May only make it past Shiano.

Who you got?

Tucker and MSU can probably stumble twice (OSU, maybe PSU) and still win it this year. He’s already 8-0. Expectations weren’t much coming into the season for them. At 10-2, will be shocked if he doesn’t win it.
