Utah St=the Wac's Indiana

They've won all their home games, including Nevada last night (you're welcome Peegs). Their only 2 road wins came against the bottom of the barrel San Jose St and Idaho. And they were taken in the 4th round.

I just can't help but think Nevada was more fired up...

...to beat my Boise team last week than your Utah St team this week. Boise has a relatively high Sagarin and has played competitively but it hasn't translated into a good record. Yeah, I'm bitter.

I wonder if Ohio St will bother to show up against Michigan this weekend. If the Buckeyes mail it in and Michigan handles them, then the Wolverines will likely be held in higher esteem by the NCAA selection commiteee than they should.

The Big Ten will be a mess if we get five 9-7 teams. This is assuming IU beats Penn St to go 10-6. I can't believe the NCAA would take more than 2 of them. Iowa can be weeded out because of their poor non-league record, but Illinois, Michigan, Mich St and Purdue would be tougher to eliminate.

It looks like the BTT will determine a lot about the fate of those 4 teams. The match-ups and who will win those head to head games should decide it.

If I had to pick today I'd eliminate both Purdue and Michigan, but both those teams are closing with momentum. All this is subject to change.

enjoyed that result

thought it was fitting that TBL had one of his team's lose in OT after getting two OT wins the night before

then before I could enjoy it Indiana State pulled out a MVC tourney win after trailing most of the game. So TBL did end up with the # of wins projected on the night

normally I would have wanted Indiana State to win that kind of game but it is getting down to crunch time here and it is as tight as it can be

I think Iowa is out unless they go to the BTT champ...

...ionship game.

Beyond that I think Indiana is in, though losing to PSU would make me sweat. But let's assume PSU doesn't "shock the world"... Indiana, OSU, and UW are in.

That leaves MSU, Purdue, Illinois and Michigan. Illinois and MSU will both be locks if they win this weekend, but both will probably lose. Assuming they lose, I think MSU could get a bid even if they lose in their first BTT game, but it'd be close. If Illinois loses at Iowa and in the first round of the BTT, they'd be on the bubble and it would probably depend on how many upsets we see in the other conference tourneys. But basically I think both MSU and Illinois are in decent shape. Good RPIs, good wins, and probably only need to win one more game (if that) to lock up a spot.

Purdue and Michigan are the big question marks. RPIs in the 40s, middle of the pack in the B10, and the only good non-conference win between them is Purdue's win over Virginia. Assuming Purdue wins this weekend, I think one BTT victory will probably get them in. For Michigan... assuming they lose to OSU, I don't think even one BTT victory will do it for them. I think they'll need at least two. If they beat OSU, all bets are off.

Satch - are you marking teams that are done?

Or will you be? It would be useful info for those of us who are too lazy to do it ourselves.

I tried making eliminated teams in bold, but it wouldn't work. It wouldn't even work with the html codes within the spreadsheet.

So I put a * at the front of the team. It doesn't show well, but you can still see it. I'm thinking of making it a ** and maybe putting the teams name in all caps so that it stands out a little better.
