‘Herd immunity music festival’ to take place in July

A Wisconsin music festival initially called the 'COVID Herd Immunity Fest' changed its name after predicable backlash

The organizers behind a Wisconsin music festival called the "COVID Herd Immunity Fest" changed its name this week after they were met with a wave of backlash on social media.
The event, which is scheduled for three days next month in Ringle, was renamed the "July Mini Fest" instead.

These people need to hire someone who has a clue about marketing. The first name was horrendous, and the new one? Who wants to go to a "Mini Fest?"

That headline is the reason the word "predictable" was invented.

We have the world’s dumbest population.

The "olders"? What about us folks out picking up groceries for our family when we have a kid who has pre-existing conditions, and the dumbass next to us picking up his Red Bull and raman noodles just got back from this shitfest? Oh well, life sucks for my kid? Or how about a 50-something guy who maybe has a 3-5% chance of becoming seriously ill if that dumbass infects me? Or maybe just a gal that wants to see football on TV this Fall? Yeah, that's right, because of these morons out there with no masks spreading germs like free love are going to kill that this Fall as well. Cuz the rate things are going now there ain't gonna be no sports in about a month. We're heading for another lock-down, big time. But hey, at least they got to listen to some lame bands that no one has ever heard of.

Party on, dude.

absolutely true, but we also have horribly corrupt beyond belief, (not stupid, they know exactly what they're doing), govt and media as well.

and the population is so stupid they keep voting for who the Wall St owned parties and media tell them to vote for.

when the pandemic first hit, the mainstream media mentioned the old were more at risk than the young.

but the MSM didn't, and still never have to date, mention just how great that age divide actually is, and that those under 35 are relatively immune from bad effects of covid to the point they are far more likely to be murdered than die of covid.

and those under 45 not all that at risk either, and still statistically way more likely to be killed in a traffic accident.

people don't stop attending concerts and other events because there is a chance of being murdered or a fatal crash.

now that the youngers have learned that they are relatively immune and have done their few months in lockdown prison, they are going back to normal society due to their now realized relative immunity. (the horse is out of the barn, good luck getting it back in).

with them having that new knowledge, we are not going to get them to go back into distancing and masks whether we want to or not, so we need to change the one strategy for all ages, (distancing, masks), and institute a new policy of making sure olders and youngers do not interact at all at home or work or play, and institute policies that enable olders to not have to interact at all with youngers.

such policies for insuring olders don't have to interact at all with youngers would include but not be limited to, no contact delivery options for everything including groceries and meds, indefinite financial help for those who meet stringent and enforced need based thresholds, the return of the doctor/nurse house call, etc.

not easy i realize, and people will have to do things they don't want to do, and decide if they want to live in the freed universe or stay in the lockdown universe.

youngers joining the freed universe need to move out if living with olders staying locked down. (olders can join the freed universe as well if they wish, but need to steer clear of locked down olders).

youngers that can't move out, need to stay in the not freed universe, avoid other youngers, distance, (way more than 6 ft), and mask.

any plan going forward that is dependent on youngers behaving as if they are at risk like olders, is doomed to colossal failure. (why we are colossally failing now).

as for youngers, the dam is busting as we speak, and no putting it back anymore than olders can talk a 22 yr old out of having sex.

let them go back to life, forget testing them, (save your testing resources for olders), let them play sports and pack the stands, (at least olders will have something to watch), let them go back to college.

hope that they acquire herd immunity sooner than later.

and yes, older coaches and teachers and bosses and workers may need to sit things out or contribute from lock down only till an effective treatment is found, or until they test positive for antibodies in a reliable test, or play Russian roulette and voluntarily join the younger's freed universe..

i never claim it a perfect plan, just the best i can come up with, and way more realistic and safe than the current one strategy for all ages herding cats no plan plan total and complete disaster.

would love it if someone has a better idea.

Horrible when one teen dies but we must have a different definition of statistically significant.

You know I did actually QUOTE the post I was responding to. You know where VPM made the BLANKET STATEMENT that "if you're young and have no medical problems YOU will be OK." Where exactly did either of us discuss "statistical significancy"?

North Texas family shaken after 18 relatives test positive for COVID-19 following family gathering
Three are now hospitalized, including two elderly family members and one woman battling breast cancer.

CARROLLTON, Texas — As North Texas watches COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surge, one family is shouldering a health crisis that they never expected to face.

That crisis, all began on May 30 when just a single relative, unknowingly infected with COVID-19, interacted with seven family members at a surprise birthday party who later tested positive.

Now, Ron Barbosa is keeping track of 18 people in his family who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Per Barbosa, those seven family members contracted and spread the virus to 10 other relatives either at the party or through other family interactions.

Barbosa didn't attend the party himself, but the celebration was for his daughter-in-law who turned 30.

However, Barbosa's nephew hosted.

That nephew, Barbosa said, is the one who was unknowingly infected, thinking a slight cough was the byproduct of working in construction.

Before the party, he played golf with a few family members who also attended the event, according to Barbosa.

Even though everyone did their best to stay socially distant, Barbosa said it likely wasn't enough as he suspects the party may have been a catalyst for the spread though there's no way to truly know.

He also said it could have happened when his nephew went golfing beforehand with relatives.

Barbosa added that his family is around each other constantly and that no one is to blame for this--underscoring that they care for each other dearly.

"It wasn't that long. It was only a couple of hours," Barbosa, a volunteer EMT said. "But during that brief time, somehow the other 18 family members are now infected with COVID."

Barbosa, who is also married to a doctor, said he and his wife refused to go to the party due to safety reasons.

However, it was a party that by current state health standards appeared harmless considering it was just family. A total of 25 people attended, Barbosa said, and not all of them arrived at the same time or stayed for the same duration.

"When people started getting sick, we really let everyone have it," Barbosa said.

"We knew this was going to happen, I mean this whole time this has been going on we've been terrified."

Among those infected are two young children, two grandparents, a cancer patient and Barbosa's parents, who are in their 80s.

Three are now hospitalized: Barbosa's parents Frank and Carole, along with his sister Kathy, who is battling breast cancer.

Kathy, per Barbosa, is recovering and feeling better, despite contracting the virus while simultaneously undergoing chemo treatments.

He says she didn't attend the party.

But Barbosa's parents are in a much tougher situation.

"not knowingly infected" shouldn't be an excuse.

everyone should assume they are infected all the time, and stay away from olders.

as i've said, separating the old from the young needs to be priority one before anything else.

there are no safe gatherings between old and young, no matter how careful the young have or haven't tried to be.

people want to believe different.

they shouldn't.

and 6 ft isn't anywhere near a safe distance, and same room isn't even safe indoors.

not fair i know, but old and young now live in different universes, and need to stay completely away from each other all the time..

no exceptions.

If they are young and have no other medical problems then they will be ok. But they should stay away from the elderly for at least 3 weeks to be safe.[/QUOTI
Your total lack of awareness is mind-boggling. I'm trying to figure out how clue your congregation must be.

Hint: A infects B. B infects C. A is responsible for C getting infected although they never met. I can't believe this has to be explained.
