    Haidt: Smartphones vs Smart Kids

I found the data discussing play based childhood quite interesting. Prior to the 2010, boys under 10 were by far the most common demo to show up in ER with broken bones. Now boys under 10 have broken bones at lower rates than their parents and grandparents.

    Country is spiraling

There was a time when those neighborhoods close to the fairgrounds were pretty rough. I wouldn't be concerned with any of them today. Most homes in that area are now 300-400k, been a lot of investment around there over last decade. Watson McCord is a nice little pocket of quality historic homes.

    Haidt: Smartphones vs Smart Kids

I know Haidt and his recent work on the subject has been mentioned recently a few times on here. I came by this Ed talk he did last fall. Worth a watch/listen. For those already afflicted with ADD... Here's a couple shorter interviews...

    Interesting thread on inequality

I think their system at that time was initially tied to silver but then at some point they stopped backing it by any metal. Been a long while since I've read on the topic.

Paper money, not something made out of a metal that had underlying intrinsic value.

    Interesting thread on inequality

For me depends upon the policy you are talking about. I don't really have any serious issue with Biden economic policy. We were going to face the same inflationary outcomes regardless who won in 2020. Biden policies probably exacerbated it but it would have been within a point no matter what. I...

And don't mean to insult you... But you've turned into one of fav posters here. I enjoy your authenticity of thought and humor.... Such as it may be.

Another RINO 'Speaker' to bite the dust..

DoD spending creates directly or indirectly about 5-6m jobs. I'm sure you know somebody that has some job tied in some way to defense spending. Don't you work for UPS? Want to go look at the DoD UPS spending? Raytheon has 55k employees. Don't even get into all the sub contracting companies...

    Interesting thread on inequality

All of what you've said is correct. The govt's Covid response was massive. There was basically a decision made across the board in govt (Trump and Biden) that the response in 2008 wasn't robust enough. That the recession and related job losses, forecloses and the financial contagion from that...

Fiat money has existed for over 1000 years. China started issuing it in roughly 1000AD.

    Interesting thread on inequality

Boomer generation as a whole did benefit from a very unique time in human history. Something that is out of the ordinary and isn't likely to be repeated. Many reasons for that but that's for another longer discussion. But most of that wealth creation was concentrated in people who owned assets...

    Moscow Marge vs Speaker Johnson

Looks like they packaged the TikTok ban/divestiture into the foreign aid bill.... Forcing the Senate to act and likely approve it.

Weren't you investment gurus saying DJT is a bad investment?

Losing money isn't uncommon for new companies going public. But $4m in rev is on par with a medium sized local painting company. Not something trading on the NDX

Weren't you investment gurus saying DJT is a bad investment?

A company with $4M in total revenue selling for $5-6B market cap. What could possibly go wrong? Makes the Pets.com IPO look reasonable.

    Anecdotal Reality - Fat Shots

The guy I talked to that was getting the compounded version for $400/mo estimated he was saving close to half that amount (or more) in buying less food. I anticipate this class of drugs will also end up being used for a lot more than weight loss. Could have serious benefits in the substance...

    Anecdotal Reality - Fat Shots

Not sure you really want to take a pill form of this long-term. Pills have to metabolized by the liver/kidney and I'd be leery of long term damage.
