    Some gossip

If the "Big 3" consists of Trayce, Race and Xavier, Woodson and his staff better pray for two proven, lethal, consistent three-point shooters from the portal... If not, next season will look like a carbon copy of this past season.

    '22-23 roster

Well, it looks like I'm 1-for-2 so far. I predicted Durr leaving, but missed on Lander. I should have thought about that one a little harder.

    '22-23 roster

For what it's worth, Woodson said from day one he aspired to implement a four-out, guard-oriented offense. If he feels Durr doesn't fit what he's looking for in a rim protector in that offense, good for him. Either Logan Duncomb fits what he's looking for (doubtful), Jackson-Davis will return...

    Dane Fife not returning

Agreed. People will believe anything. Do we have proof Fife was spewing conspiratorial nonsense to the players? No. Is it possible he did? Sure. Same goes for Fife leaking information to Rabjohns, Dakich, etc. However, until there's concrete proof of any of those things, I will be skeptical.

Thoughts on last night, and IUs future

I was yelling at my TV begging Woodson to play Leal, Lander, Bates and even Duncomb. You're already down an insurmountable lead, so what's the harm in giving the young guys some run on the big stage?

    Returning Players Thread

It's going to be helpful to have one thread to discuss returning players, so I figured I would start one. Anthony Leal and Jordan Geronimo have both tweeted their intentions to return for the '22-23 season:

    Jamarion Sharp

Sharp was rated as the #1 rated junior college player in the 2021 class by 247Sports. He had offers from Western Kentucky, Arizona, Cincinnati and Oregon. The fact three high major programs offered shows me he has the potential to be a contributor.

    '22-23 roster

Agreed. After last night's fiasco, my only expectation for next season's team is to finish in the top half of the Big Ten and make the NCAA Tournament. There's no evidence available to expect anything beyond that.

Thoughts on last night, and IUs future

I hate to admit it, but this IU team laid down and quit in the second half. Many fans don't have the stomach to admit it, but it's the truth. I don't like it any more than anyone else, but it needs to be said. It's one thing to play hard with effort and lose to a better team (which I believe...

    '22-23 roster

I'm guilty of having hyped up Tamar Bates as a potential one-and-done player before he had played a single minute for Mike Woodson. That's not to say he won't improve, but like you said, it's important to temper expectations and see how things play out once the ball is tipped in November.

    '22-23 roster

If Kopp is on the roster next season, let alone starts, I will have a difficult time watching. He was brought in for shooting and did not provide that this season.

Thoughts about whether Trace will return next year?

I know the IU program is very important to Trayce, as is the state of Indiana. I have never doubted that. Having said that, I don't believe many kids spend much time pondering their individual "legacy" at a program. I don't think that would play any part in his decision to go or stay...

    '22-23 roster

Miller Kopp only shot 33% as a junior at Northwestern last season. I had my doubts about his shooting ability based on that stat alone, and my suspicions were confirmed. I would love to see a guy brought in who averaged at minimum 38% from three. You have to think there will be guys out there...

Thoughts on last night, and IUs future

I love all of this. Kobe Bryant always championed the concept of putting in the work behind the scenes when no one is looking. I remember hearing about Victor Oladipo putting in work and getting shots up in the Cook Hall practice facility after games and practices. I would love to see guys...

I feel the same way about the Saint Mary's culture. It seems Randy Bennett brings in kids he knows are good fits for his program. Each kid buys in to the culture and understands/appreciates what his specific role is. I would be thrilled if IU and Mike Woodson could build something similar.

Got it. I suppose the NBA really has drifted toward the Golden State style of basketball. Interesting.

Thoughts on last night, and IUs future

I think Saint Mary's style is different than the NBA in the fact it's not predicated on the two-man pick-and-roll game and iso sets. That's just my two cents.

    '22-23 roster

Geronimo's potential is out of this world. I truly believe he's the next OG Anunoby.

    '22-23 roster

I don't think recruiting service rankings are gospel, but he was a consensus top 100 player coming out last year...

    '22-23 roster

The one certainty is Woodson and staff *have* to bring in one -- if not two -- legitimate three-point shooting threats. I'd prefer to see them come from other major conference teams as well.
