    Bob Knight

Reading now that he's died at 83. Complicated coach, interesting legacy.

These Chicago Cubs are really scrappy…

If only Marquee Sports Network wasn't so hard (or expensive to watch). Waiting for them to stop making it so difficult to watch, and trying to remember to tune in to online radio in the meantime. Even if Heyward is now playing for the Dodgers - he was my favorite from the "woah - they can play!"...

    F1 2022 Season

Stuck is better than what I was imagining. And the news that he's out of the car and on a stretcher is better than I thought, too.

So much for that...how is it that the Mercedes pit problems only seem to happen to him?

    F1: 2021/22 Season

Well, dang. I don't know that I ever saw anything with her before - to my great sadness. Van drifting will...not be going on my bucket list, but that was a helluva ride. Hoping for some exciting (and safe) races this season.

    Capitol in lockdown

I just said that I was wondering if he has to use the bathroom, or is perhaps on uppers.

History made today: Covid Lewis wins his 7th World Championship!

Ah, I blinked when he got that third point. But I hope that he got in early enough to change the tires and fix the mistake - it sounded like that might be possible from the perspective of the announcers, but I'm sure the stewards will sort it soon.

Two points for Russell is worse than crumbs. I feel badly for both Bottas and Russell - normally, it's just Bottas that gets shafted, but they really made Russell feel right at home... Good for the podium folks, though! That is quite nice to see.

What a mess! I know they were stacked up, but come ON. It's not a boring race, but it is a head-scratcher.

That was quite nice. I like that Stephen asked questions that seemed to make the sport more accessible to a lot of his audience members who may not be fans, and gave some good exposure to the Hamilton Commission, too.

I hope they can stay on the track tomorrow.... I like the way things shook out in quals, and the new folks a bit higher up in the starting positions, and am looking forward to a good race. It'll be interesting to see how Stroll and Verstappen do in their starts - Max is usually pretty darned...

Even in slow-mo, that Verstappen blow out and subsequent slide through the gravel looked darn fast. Am watching on a slight delay, and just saw Russell and subsequent SC. Dang. SkyRadio commenters: "Character building." Or something like that. I wasn't sure that this would be a good racetrack...

History made today: Covid Lewis wins his 7th World Championship!

Yep! I try to bear that in mind when I get a little bored with the Mercedes 1-2 punches. And it's a shame, too, because those with less financial backing but strong abilities are not given a lot of time to grow and develop. I'd like to see Ricciardo do well again, too - - though I don't miss...

History made today: Covid Lewis wins his 7th World Championship!

Agreed on all counts. Raikkonen getting another shot in a good car is a pipe dream, but I'm always glad to see him drive the hell out of what he's got. I want to like Verstappen, but he doesn't need me to like him. He's a good driver and has the personality he needs to perform well. So I can...

History made today: Covid Lewis wins his 7th World Championship!

Agreed. It was really moving to see Mick Schumacher give Lewis one of his dad's helmets when he tied the record at 91. I get a little tired of Mercedes 1-2 wins (I mean, 26 second leads don't leave a lot of excitement at the front of the pack), but can't deny that Lewis is a hell of a driver...

Speaking of senior folks in current senior leadership positions (+ a candidate), did I miss a mention of this? McConnell seems to be having a bit of a rough go. That bruising seems....excessive. RIP John Lewis

Heather Cox Richardson wrote about Representative Lewis in yesterday's (last night's?) Letters from an American: “Do not get lost in a sea of despair,” Lewis tweeted almost exactly a year before his death. “Do not become bitter or hostile. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to...
