Just watched Arizona and Mstate play..

I see the BIG as wide open below Purdue. I think IU has a punchers chance at second place because MSU has looked so poor. I had expected MSU to be better. UI has some real talent and might challenge for second as well. I have no read on Maryland or Rutgers but they’ve been good consistently...

    PU vs UT

I’ve thought that too. Knights teams were not the best athletes, but they played together, playing fundamentally sound team basketball. That’s why I loved watching those old IU teams.

    XJ what do you expect?

I read this article and think it is okay, but is pretty much an MSU puff piece. They talked about the shortest guard in the BIG, Bradon Smith at Purdue and said this: "Smith willingly hunting offensive shots, creating chaos with his length and quick hands defensively, and sharing the rock."...

This Woody stuff never gets old.

I think that the coach does play an important part in making the player "smarter" on the court, making better decisions, etc. However, the physical development of a player is most likely a factor of the player's personal motivation and the players innate genetic given physical qualities. To...

    Kanon Catchings

Nobody posted that nonsense about Cannon not being a good player. Pure fabrication. Oh yes, Purdue has an open scholarship for 2023 if he reclassifies. Brandon Newman left, so that is open.

Are we back or not?!? How the hell does IU lose to Penn State in hoops…

The deal with Penn State is the 3-pt shot. If it's falling, they are really tough to beat. If not, they have no inside game. I still think they are a good defensive team. Their ability to win rests almost completely on their long shooting. They will hold your scoring down regardless.

Point is moot if we don’t win…

LOL! PSU is all about good defense.

Are we back or not?!? How the hell does IU lose to Penn State in hoops…

In IU's defense, PSU is coached by Micah Shrewsbury. He was a damned good defensive coach in the pro's. There is nothing that Woody can draw up that Shrew hasn't seen before. No magic plays. Shrews also knows how to level the court when the other guys (IU in this case) have superior talent...

    Boilers

BIG_Fan was in the room with the player's family when the player made his decision, no doubt. He knows each family so well that he can say with certainty that each of these players would have jumped at an IU offer. TOC! Honestly, I don't think BIG_Fan is an IU fan at all. Unlike most real IU...

Over it. On to Purdue… biggest game for us since when!?!

This could be one of the most hateful and delusional posts I’ve seen on any board, but given who posted it, I should not be surprised. I know we all think our school is the preferred school over any other. I get that. What I would worry about is why didn’t IU offer some of these kids? Is...

    Eating crow tonight

Maybe, but he seems to be scoring more in BIG play and getting more assists. I think he has yet to hit his stride. Maybe Smith is just getting used to college ball.

    Eating crow tonight

Maybe, but he has been scouted now and may lose some of his effectiveness. I really like him as a player, but his impact on the team overall may not be as significant as Smith's. It's a long season so we will see. Smith certainly has more shooters around him than JHS.

    Eating crow tonight

Sorry, but Loyer and Smith on the bench at IU is pretty funny. I got'a call you on this one. I think you might have an inflated opinion of your current guards compared to these two. IU desperately needs someone like Loyer that can shoot, and Smith would be feeding TJD all night.

    Serious question.

The difference between winning and losing in the BIG is hair-thin. Having two key starters out and your go-to guy hurting is going to impact teams as thin as IU. The coach can’t play. He can teach defense, and get the second stringers ready to start, but there are limits to that strategy...

    Woody and the Assistants..

Just saying that injuries have affected the outcome more than coaching, or rather, poor coaching. That’s all I was getting at. North western is talented, and cannot be overlooked as a competitive team.

    Woody and the Assistants..

Maybe the criticism of Woodson and his staff is fair but these last two games should be excepted from the discussion. In this league, you cannot lose two of your starters, especially your PG and expect to win. Add to that nagging injury to your best player. The coaching and talent level is so...

    Dane Fife Sighting . . .

I doubt Fife was trying to sabotage IU or Woodson. That story never made sense to me. I suspect that Woodson and Fife simply had very different perspectives on the team, player discipline, and on life in general. Fife is probably old-school Bobby Knight and Woodson maybe more free wheeling...
