Hey, remember when McConnell wouldn't allow a vote

Yeah, but do you remember Merrick Garland?

Dream Team, unite! Should I attempt to build my own pergola?

You're good TV, mcm. If you're not locked in on the idea with this Brad guy, I know some people who would appreciate your talent. 😇

Dream Team, unite! Should I attempt to build my own pergola?

So a couple grand and a few weeks of work to hang string lights and have a psychological sense of enclosure? A fan, Lars' walk-in closet, and a flashlight gets you 85% of the way there. Heck, if it's raining, you'll get those perks AND stay dry. 🤣

Dream Team, unite! Should I attempt to build my own pergola?

Are you willing to nail your hand to the pergola? Set your overalls on fire? Get frozen into the cement you just poured? Might not need you to do it, Brad. Mcm in cement or on fire would probably get a greenlight though.

Dream Team, unite! Should I attempt to build my own pergola?

I don't understand the value proposition of a pergola. So the sun only fries part of your face? So you only get a little wet during a thunder storm? What are we after here? When it's done, it still feels like a project that got abandoned halfway through to me.

    Mellencamp

If I go to a restaurant and don't like what they cook, I don't insist that they change what they do to make it the way I prefer it. I just don't go back. Different folks and different strokes and all that.

Meh. I'm more of the "if you don't like the show, don't buy the ticket next time" school. I think the "shut up and dribble" line of thinking is small and weak.

    It isn’t in NPR

Appreciate your always reasonable conversation on things. Maybe we are just parsing words, but you seem quite comfortable with Nazis and Palestinians being allowed to march and say all kinds of terrible things at a permitted rally. Cool on that. I am, too. I don't see much daylight between those...

Change "what is needed for the system to work" for "what is needed for me to be comfortable with the system" and I'm with you. But, since we have to do a lot of "replace ___________ with ____________" with each other, I don't think we are on the same page on this one as I'm not sure what the...

    It isn’t in NPR

I think it's pretty clear that isn't what I'm saying, but let me underline it to make it a little more crystal. There has never been a time where the press was free of substantial bias driven by a set of influential actors. It just is what it is. Maybe there were times when the bias was...

    It isn’t in NPR

Actually, I think the true danger is thinking that we ever had an unbiased press that wasn't influenced and controlled by a set of influential actors. Who was it that vetoed the Fairness Doctrine when a replacement for the change in FCC policy passed Congress?

Taylor Swift is a government agent

Sorry...those are the rules if you want to be Limitless. Starbucks makes you very Limited. We can pitch that show to Netflix if you'd like though. 🤣

    Trust the market

Towards Marvin's original point, it seems like the market would handle that if enough people shared your perspective on it. It seems like that's not the case in a bunch of places though.

IU is a middling academic school

That's been my experience as well. Nobody hires somebody to do "business". They get hired into specific roles that require different specific skill sets. Expecting kids to have it all figured out by 22 is a recipe for disaster.

IU is a middling academic school

They aren't hiring a Northwestern business major. It doesn't have an undergrad one. Somehow those NU kids get hired. Lots of recruiting out of history, poli-sci, econ, MMSS, sociology, communication studies, etc. Humanities education offers a ton of different opportunities if you are smart about...

IU is a middling academic school

Kids will usually do pretty well in life when they leave college knowing how to work hard with an understanding of something they love to do other than watching Tik Toks or drinking beer. Kids very often end up as unhappy adults when they do something just because it's what their parents wanted...
