Why I think a coaching change has to be made

Historically, IU is the best team in the conference. This is one of the reasons the Big Ten hasn't won a National Championship in 20+ years. If IU isn't challenging for Big Ten titles, NCAA titles, recruiting at the highest level, basically the best team in the conference, there is a problem...

    Adios, Archie

If TJD leaves, it will be worse. We don't have Oladipo or Zeller coming in. Archie isn't changing his stripes.

Sampson beat Painter on the first try: it is the coach, and it matters.

    How can anyone support this?

Or, you know how to adjust as a coach and take away what Painter does: both are very possible. Painter's strength is size and shooting, which you have to do when you don't normally land the blue chips. If you recruit well enough, have enough size, have better and more athletic players, and...

    Adios, Archie

On paper, he was a good hire. He went to the NCAA's every year after the Elite 8 year and finished 2, 1, and 1 in conference. Archie certainly has not evolved to a power conference.

That’s why we are an ex-blue blood

He's actually a pretty good coach, just a knucklehead. He beat PU on the first try, made the NCAA's in first year.

Trayce would be even better if we had guards and a small forward that could create their own shot and shoot. There would be less double teams and clogged lane.

You have to see improvement by year 4, and there just hasn't been any. Archie's plateau is a .500 or below Big Ten record, maybe squeaks in the NCAA's. There are just too many holes, and they never get fixed.

That’s why we are an ex-blue blood

Crean wasn't special, neither is Archie. Go find somebody who is.

I've touched the hot stove enough at this point. Archie is what he is. Rather he gets bounced now than in 5 more years.

You have to put your players in a position to succeed, and you have to want it more than the other team: Painter does this, Archie doesn't. There is a reason Archie hasn't beat Painter yet. I think PU cares more, and that makes me want to vomit.

    Adios, Archie

Offense has been pathetic, including shooting. Archie doesn't understand that the Big Ten is a physical league and refuses to recruit adequate size. Recruiting period isn't impressive. It is painful to watch his teams play. Archie is a negative value coach.

    Adios, Archie

Agree, Archie just hasn't been able to evolve from mid-major to the big time. You know what to expect from him by now, and it isn't anything special.

    Adios, Archie

Rather disappointed to say this, get no pleasure from it. If you can't even beat PU at home, you need to go. I'm tired of that, tired of a losing Big Ten record. GTFO. Can't recruit, can't put together a coherent roster. Just not the guy. I can't think of one advantage Archie gives us as a...

    How can anyone support this?

Subpar product. If you can't beat PU at home, then get out. How many times does IU have to have a size disadvantage for it to sink in.

    Have to give Painter props

I don't think you want to know....

    Have to give Painter props

Neither your present coach has been to the FF, nor the prior coach who you named your floor after. I don't think PU should ever be talking about the NCAA's. No other program worth a damn would have kept Matt Painter this long.

    POTFB

Time for Archie to earn his paycheck. Beating PU is one of the things an IU coach needs to do, especially at home. At least an above .500 Big Ten record is also expected.

Mike Hart is joining Harbaugh’s staff in Ann Arbor

It wouldn't have hurt having a RB calling the plays against Ole Miss.

    Purdue

I haven't seen anything special from Archie at this point in time. He needs to start beating PU. He needs to recruit better than he has. He needs to contend for Big Ten titles. He needs to get to the Final Four. He hasn't finished with an above .500 Big Ten record or made the NCAA's (might...
