Is banning birth control "small government"?

Can one of you MAGA freedom experts explain to me how this isn't becoming a situation where the government owns a woman's uterus?

Here's a big newsflash for the MAGA crew: people like to ****. They've been doing it for 200,000 years. You know what else they've been doing? Abortions, that entire time.

So, what, God decided to show up, what, 188,000 years into man's existence with the sole purpose of reversing all He had caused/created the preceding 188,000 years?

This hocus pocus mumbo jumbo should be nowhere near policy, governance, etc. We are inching closer to cousins of the Taliban, and that's no joke. Women wearing Burkas is hardly removed all that far from this nonsense regarding birth control.

Barr - Biden unfit for president

The real threat to democracy is progressives. Will vote for Trump as Biden will do more damage to this country

Spot on. With trump you’re voting for a vile distasteful man. With Biden a far left winger with a progressive agenda that will touch all of our lives and fundamentally change our country. I think some are duped into believing Biden means something else. Evidence shows Biden is just a vote for AOC, cori bush and the squad. From open borders to climate to the desire to create the largest social safety net in modern history with cradle to grave benefits to identity politics to taxing the shit out of businesses and earners to redistribute wealth. Joe Biden is the squad on domestic affairs

IU's 2024 Future Total - +5.5 Wins

I know that IU is a big unknown this year, but Vegas seems to think that we can win 3 games outside the non-conference.

While Lindy's & Alton's have us at the bottom - 4-5 win level.

What are the top 3 candidates for a win in conference?

Maryland could take a step backwards losing their QB. Plus, we owe them.

Is Washington going to be vulnerable after losing players & coaches

Purdue is at home, so there is always chance

Nebraska is probably the best of the 4 & would be a tough home win.

Illinois 2024

I thought it would be interesting to do a series of threads about the prospects of our BT competition next year.

This won't be intended to be a thorough vetting....just an initial look at who projects to be in the rotation at the BT non-western 14 (I''ll leave the Pac 4 teams to someone else).

Lets begin with Illinois.

They lost all but one of their top 8 scorers, assuming Goode remains in the portal as expected. They have a good but not great HS recruiting class. Also, a good but not great portal class, imo.

Based on what I've seen their rotation would likely include**:

--6'3 PG Kylan Boswell, TR from AZ
--6'10" Casey Booth, TR from ND
--6'6" Ty Rogers, a returning starter
--6'8: Morez Johnson, a highly regarded (35 or so) HS recruit
--6'7" Trey White, TR from UL
--6'3" Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn
--6'6" Jake Davis, TR from Mercer. This is an interesting kid. He's not particularly highly rated by 247 or ON3, but I'm not sure why not. Last year, as a true freshman, he shot 48% on 2s, 39% on 3s, and 85% on FTs. He's a high volume 3 pt shooter, taking twice as many 3s as 2s. And a decent-good rebounder for 6'6". He's listed at 6'6" 220 lbs, and was lightly recruited out of Indianapolis Cathedral HS.

There is a huge ?? about Illinois basketball next year. Marcus Domask has hired an atty and applied for an extra year of eligibility He's played 5 years, but only played in 10 games one of his years at SIU, and is seeking another year.

Other players who could fight for some pt are little guard Nicolo Moretti (European) and 6'10" freshman recruit Jason Sakstys.

Predictions...........I'm not aware of any additional high value portal guys Illinois may be recruiting....as things stand, without Domask, they look like a team that might finish between 6th and 9th in the expanded BT. Outside shooting could be an issue if Davis struggles, and there is no proven center. But there is some talent. Add Domask and they probably are more like a 4th-7th team, imo.

Thoughts?

**EDIT--6'9" Ben Humrichous, from Evansville added to rotation. Domask will not challenge eligibilty.
**EDIT #2--Illinois has added 2024 recuit 7'1" 230lb Croation Tomislav Ivisic, twin brother of Zvonimar Ivisic, now at Ark., late of UK.

Water Cooler Book Club

Interest?

Meet over Zoom once a week.

Assign about 70 pages per week. MUST READ.

Tackle Great Books. Discuss deep issues and interpretative questions (like, what the fvck is going on here???). Inquiry focus, not show- off-your-intellect focus.

No personal attacks or lack of courtesy.

Books can be chosen by vote or rotating selection of members, but need a list of potentials (Top 100 novels/books of All-Time?). I'm more focused on fiction, but love historical fiction.

If enough interest, I'll run it in the beginning, but hoping others would moderate as we get going on some chapters/weeks to spread the workload.

Louisiana lol

The 10 Commandments in public school classrooms is a per se violation of the Establishment Clause.

But La doesn't care. It's all for show so, when the Constitution thumps them down, they can point at us and scream "Heathens!" in our faces.

C'mon, dudes. We all know the 10 Cs don't belong in public schools. Come on, now.

And while we're talking about the 10 Cs, the first 5 are mere loyalty oaths to something that very likely doesn't even exist.

And you can't use the 1st A to violate the 1st A, folks.

Moses' tablets have no business in a 21st C American school. Keep your kids home and teach them that shit.

Boeing 737 Max: The Flying Coffin

Low-cost airline Lion Air said the plane was carrying 181 passengers, including one child and two babies, and eight crew members. At least 23 Indonesian government officials, an Indian pilot, and an Italian man were also on board.

TROUBLED Lion Air flight JT 610 made erratic altitude changes in the brief time it was in the sky before it dramatically plunged and crashed into the sea.
About three minutes after the Boeing 737 Max 8 took off for its one-hour flight to Pangkal Pinang, pilot Bhavye Suneja asked air traffic control for permission to turn around and return to Jakarta airport.

Ten minutes later, the plane crashed into waters off the Java coast.

Preliminary data transmitted by flight 610 now suggests the doomed plane dropped at breakneck speed — falling from an altitude of 1479m in just 21 seconds.
