Here’s what I’d do if I were Woodson

Go HARD after Reneau.

Go HARD after a couple starter level wings, with hopes of getting 1. Think TTechs Shannon or LSUs Murray as examples.

Continue to go after Brome.

Assuming only 1 of TJD and Race is coming back, but that it’s a safe bet that 1 will come back. Then it’s important that we get someone like Reneau or Brome, if for no other reason than depth and for the 2023-24 team.

But for the 2022-23 team, I think upgrading our wing versatility and production is essential. I’m hopeful we have some of that solved already. If Jordan and Tamar show improvements, namely defensively, they’ll give us more athleticism and versatility. JHS should come in and be productive in the backcourt. So I’m optimistic that we won’t have to play Miller nearly as much if he stays. But man, it sure would be nice to get a Terrance Shannon type guy to make it a virtual certainty.

If the likely happens, and only 1 of TJD and Race comes back…it’s more than likely that we transition into a more 4 out, 1 in style. So finding more/better/more versatile wings would be THE best thing we could do via the portal to assure that we keep the program headed in the right direction.

So far, from what little we’ve heard on who we’re reaching out to, it doesn’t appear that Woody shares my views. Obviously a lot hinges on what our current guys do. But it’s a little disappointing that we haven’t been mentioned as going after any of the top wings similar to Shannon.

April 7 is the International Day of Reflection regarding the Rwandan genocide

It’s one of the most horrifying events of my lifetime. If you’d like to read a book about it, this one is NOT boring and well written. It’s one of the most affecting books I’ve ever read:

As an aside, or maybe a conversation starter, given what happened in Rwanda and the Jewish Holocaust, I bristle a bit when people—including Zelensky—refer to the Russian invasion as a genocide. They can both be bad but not the same.

I hate when words with a lot of meaning and baggage (like racism and white supremacy, too) are cheapened. I think it leads to apathetic responses from a large group of people whose passion and support we need to end these things when the real instances actually occur.
