Man attends funeral of brother killed by a snake - then is bitten by one himself and dies

Govind Mishra, 22, travelled 50 miles to the village holding his brother's funeral but was fatally attacked by a snake while he slept a matter of hours after the service

Just four snake species are responsible for around 90% of all snakebites in India

n an unusual coincidence, a man died from a snakebite after travelling to attend his brother's funeral - who had been killed by another snake only days before.

Govind Mishra, 22, was fatally attacked in his sleep by the reptile after making a long journey to his elder sibling's last rites in Bhawanipur village in India.

His brother, 38-year-old Arvind Mishra, died last Tuesday and his funeral was held a day later on Wednesday, reports Indian news agency PTI.

Police confirmed Govind's death on Thursday in an incident that also saw another family member bitten while sleeping in the same property.

I wonder if the original snake outsourced the job to the 2nd snake to finish off the family/project.

Coors is beer sponsor for IU

I'm looking forward to Bandit and Snowman rolling into the stadium with the week's load coming in from Texarkana.

People have asked about a new Mod in these parts...

People have been asking if I'm now a moderator. Yes, I am. There was a time
when people claimed if that ever happened they'd leave. Well, now's your
chance.

I'm deleting posts and replies that are little more than "You're an idiot" or a
variation of that. Posts that call out other posters and claim they're stupid
or suffering from BDS or TDS are getting deleted as well. Bottom line is I'm
taking down all the direct personal attacks on other posters.

That said, good natured smack talk and clever chops busting will be allowed and
encouraged. I know what that looks like. If there's any question I'll ask
yo' momma, since she'll be right here with me.

I won't catch everything and won't get everything right, either. You get what
you pay for. If you are posting good thoughtful content, don't make me delete
it over a gratuitous, unnecessary "You're stupid" thrown in.

Solid long term posters who consistently add content will be given the benefit
of the doubt. People who consistently shit post won't.

Lucy will get more latitude than most anybody, because Lucy.

TMP will get a pass on his one word "Dumb" replies. It's a trademark.
Otherwise, I'm going to ask that he try and keep himself reined in.

Use the Report button if something gets posted that's way out of line.
Understand that I'm not at a desk job anymore and can't actively do much during
the day, and I also go to bed a lot earlier than many of you. If a shitstorm
breaks out it may take some time to get to it.

I don't have any desire to ban people or do time outs or vaycays but I'm not
opposed to it. If I spend all my time cleaning up your crap, don't be surprised
when I get my fill of it.

My mod powers don't include the ability initiate PMs, but if you send me one
then the channel is open and we can have a discussion that way if anyone likes.
I've tried to do a back door kind of messaging via the Warn function, but I'm
not sure it's worked. I'll explore other avenues. For the time being, if anyone
wants to discuss this civilly and in the open, using this thread would be the
best way to go.

Front Office Sports - Big Ten Hopes to Earn at Least $1.5B Annually in Media Rights Deal

At nearly $100 million annually per school less overhead/expenses for the Conference, AD and such, a healthy allocation by IU to benefit (pay) all scholarship student-athletes could really boost IU in all competitive sports. Some/many will likely argue that any such disbursements be awarded on the basis of a sport's respective contribution to generating media revenue - for my part I'd like to see a more egalitarian approach, i.e., swimmers, volleyball /soccer/baseball/FB/BB players, track and field, et al., all receive the same 'stipend'. Alternately could create a tiered system so that everyone is guaranteed something above and beyond a scholarship...

Should We Build a Bigger Stadium

When the Big Ten expands to whatever number it ends up being, IU will have the second smallest stadium in the conference. Only Northwestern will be smaller. We already have way too many recruiting challenges that make our situation close to hopeless if we want to compete with the big boys. Yes, our training facilities are top notch so would it now be the time to add twenty or thirty thousand seats to our stadium to give prospects something more to consider when IU recruits them?

All eyes should be on the OL and the RBs

So... we have a competition between 3 QBs, all coming off injuries, being developed by a new OC/QBCoach who doesn't have a proven track record of developing successful QBs.

Sounds like we are going to go with the game managing distributor QB. Whoever wins isn't going to carry the offense on the power of his arm. The offense is going to succeed based on the QBs ability to facilitate the offense.

In other words... it may not matter who the QB is because Walt Bell's previous offenses never had/used/needed a prolific QB to operate.

All eyes should be on the OL and the Running game. The QB is not going to be the headliner.
