OT NFL coaches are pussies

They talk the big talk about how aggressive they are. Then when the game is on the line they pucker up tighter than a virgin on prom night. Case in point, Cincinnati is on the outer edge of FG range in a tie game in OT. Instead of using your hot QB and hot WR to make the FG more manageable, you run 3 dives into the line and get nothing. Settle for a 52 yd FG and miss. 3 plays later, of course, you lose. wtf

Here's the article on the Louisville/IU exhibition on Sunday...

They split the two games. Two transfer players were noted for their performance in the exhibition in Louisville transfer Korbyn Dickerson and Southern Indiana transfer Gavin Seebold. The article includes box scores for both "games."

Winters Grady

I tossed this out on the premie. I'm wondering why we're suddenly in on this kid. Do we know Mullins is out and this is our pivot?

Seems weird to suddenly be in on this kid, since he says he wants to commit during early signing period and we haven't even offered him at this point.

USC loss to Minnesota & Ju Ju

Ju Ju Lewis could not have been impressed with USC's performance in their loss to Minnesota. If you have a subscription to the Athletic, a story focused on USC's talent problems is linked below. If not, I can't copy and paste any snippets but a significant portion of the article highlights their deficiencies on the Offensive Line.

USC Isn't Built to Contend in the Big Ten

Hats off to those of you more optimistic than me.

I was skeptical of the level of competition CCC had competed against. I had no idea about the skill level of the individual players that some of you were so positive about. I was awfully impressed by this team’s performance against Northwestern today. I now understand why McCulley transferred out. Both lines are getting the job done.. I haven’t been this positive about the Hoosier team since the late 1980s. I wasn’t negative about this squad. I just didn’t want to get caught up in all the hype. The most important game of the season is the next game. Beat Nebraska!

With regard to CCC’s comment about googling his successes, as Dandy Don Meredith said if you back it up it ain’t braggin. And, obviously he has a great coaching staff.

Indiana’s overall PFF grade is No. 3 in the nation, behind only Ohio State and Miami, Fla.

Through six games, Indiana’s overall PFF grade is No. 3 in the nation, behind only Ohio State and Miami (Fla.). Their overall offense is second, and their overall defense is 14th.

Must be excellent coaching.

BOWL PROJECTIONS

Since we are now officially bowl eligible, let’s talk bowl projections. We can update this weekly.

I don’t subscribe to ESPN and they have their bowl projections hidden behind a paywall, so if someone does, please feel free to add those.

AFTER WEEK 6

Two ESPN writers, Bill Connelly and Harry Lyles Jr, have IU as the 8 seed in their playoff brackets. Both have IU hosting Alabama in a first round CFP game.

Rourke named BiG Co-Offensive Player of the week

Rourke now becomes the first Hoosier to earn multiple Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week awards since 2020, when Ty Fryfogle did so in back-to-back weeks. He's also the first Indiana quarterback to earn multiple Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors since Nate Sudfeld did so twice during the 2015 season.

Heading into Indiana's bye week, Rourke currently leads the Big Ten in passing yards (1,752), passing touchdowns (14), yards per attempt (10.9) and passer rating (192.1).

Gambling - 5 games in a row this same parlay has hit for me:

IU to cover, the over, and Rourke for over 250 yards passing. Nebraska won't stop this from happening for a 6th straight game, and you have 2 weeks to figure out how to bet online and share in this parlay with me. I was feeling lucky on Sat and put together this 7 legger: IU to cover, the over, Lawton and Ellison each for 25 yards rushing, Sarratt for 40 yards receiving, and IU to score over 27.5. Vegas hasn't figured IU out yet and these player yardage bets added to my parlays have been easy $$. Pulled out $1000 in winnings Sunday. Anybody else been winning $$ on our Hoosiers? Any bets anyone have been using that have been hitting regularly?

Private charitable donations to public high schools

I find this phenomenon bizarre. It's now going on at my school. A neighbor was invited to a mixer that turned out to be a fundraising networking event. These people are looking for people to donate between $100k-$500k. To my kid's public high school. They said it's a more "progressive" way to fund the school's $250 million renovation that was voted on and somehow they want private funding to cover part of the cost.

Here's an earlier example:

The same guy told me that some billionaire graduate from this high school offered to pay the whole $250 million if they'd name the school after him. And our board flatly declined. WTF???
