Mike Greenburg was complaining about IU being ranked ahead of Alabama

The real rankings fraud is Penn St. at #3.
It's funny you bring that up, I was just looking at the SP+ rankings last night and it had PSU defense as #2 I think. I agree that they certainly don't FEEL like they're that good. But I guess we'll see if they're for real when they play OSU next weekend.

Also, it might be personal preference, but I find audiobooks difficult to follow and uninteresting compared to podcasts. People write and speak differently. So if you're just listening in your car, maybe try out some philosophy podcasts. There are plenty out there right now. Here are some good suggestions:

I doubt he goes anywhere else. He's said as much that he wants this to be his last stop, and his wife LOVES Bloomington, and he does as well.

He's a superstar, and he and Lance Leipold are built the same way inasmuch as Leipold could have gone anywhere he wanted to but chose to stick around in Kansas. Both guys are top 5 coaches in the country. Indiana is going to reward him significantly and Cig is going to get even more NIL money. It is a no brainer for IU.

On the topic of NIL, while we are not Ohio State in NIL, we have far more NIL cash now than what people think, and a lot more in the hopper. There's a couple of reasons Julian Lewis is involved with Indiana: (1) his relationship with the offensive staff, in particular Sunseri; and (2) We can meet his NIL requirements.

As for Cig, he's the master at changing the culture and maintaining his new culture. He's a phenomenal attention to detail guy. The guys who go to practice have repeatedly said that they have never seen a staff practice so fast and hard with such attention to detail at Indiana before. Just look at the development of the players he brought from JMU, or even the IU guys- Mike Katic has gone from a guy who wasn't going to get drafted or even really looked at by NFL scouts to now being a guy that is likely going to get drafted. Look at the unselfish running back room. Everybody blocks, everybody runs routes and nobody complains about carries. Same with the receivers, in particular Sarrat, Cooper and Williams are fantastic perimeter blockers. Unselfish.

What Cig has done is extraordinary, in particular given the woeful talent levels we had the last two-three years. I was told Cig and his staff were shocked and appalled at the lack of speed, athleticism and weight room commitment from the previous roster. When guys like Blidi and Minor leave after spring for more cash, what does Cig do? He goes out and gets West and Ponds--upgrades over the other guys.
So disappointing to hear about the lack of commitment in the weight room. That's one thing anyone can do - you don't have to be super athletic to commit to weight training.

There is a quote about how teams wouldn't take a chance on him.. That makes me a little hopeful he would want to stay to reward IU for being that team.

I was always the one wondering why people making great money would leave for obscene money. But I was always called naive. And largely in athletics, money has ruled. A few players take a cut to be where they want to be or to win, but not many. As much as I don't like Brady, he played with an undermarket contract.

Maybe Cig will be the exception to the rule. I sure hope so. I also wonder how many programs will adopt his strategy, heck with potential, show me production in the portal.

says if the met on a neutral field Bama would be favored by 2 touchdowns, I think that may be a little extreme but would concede Bama would be a prohibitive favorite, following his logic should Las Vegas do the polls instead of the ap and coaches? F the SEC, we beat UCLA on the road by more than LSU did at home

I do think Bana falling 8 spots in the rankings losing by 7 on the road to the #11 ranked team is stupid. Would they beat IU? I'd probably say it's likely but neither program is what it used to be.

GameDay @ Bloomington just announced...

Lilly King
Kevin Kline
Jonathan Banks
Mark Spitz
Babe Laufenberg
Jamie Hyneman
Here's a list of guest pickers over the years and their picks. Note that pretty much none of them are people that haven't been heard from on the national scene in decades.

Mike Greenburg was complaining about IU being ranked ahead of Alabama

Cignetti, and IU, have passed every test, and answered every question mark so far this year.

One that they haven't faced, is a team filled with 4 and 5 star kids like what Alabama would have.

We'll get that here in a few weeks with the Michigan and OSU games.

I have no doubts that a full strength Rourke led IU team, would be competitive with anyone in the country. I think the Jackson led Hoosier likely would as well, but there is some more unknown there...

But its not an outlandish take to question whether we're big and athletic enough to beat a team like Bama.
Fine to question if we can beat Bama, but a 14 pt favorite is getting outlandish given what we have seen from Bama this year.

Your words to God’s ears.

Vanderbilt beat Alabama.
Yep...so?

I think the point is until IU plays a team with top of the B10, or SEC levels of talent, there still has to be some question marks.

I'm pretty confident in Cignetti and the fellas being competitive, against anyone. I think Greenburg is wrong. Sagarin doesn't fully agree with Greenburg, but does still have Bama as the "better" team.

Its not an outlandish take on his part, though.

Saban on CCC shot with Memorial Stadium background

I can’t imagine CCC would want to pull up stakes 2 years in a row and have to house hunt, move, recruit staff, players, re-recruit players already on roster, deal with the AD, president, BOT, and who knows what else, and not see the light of day for a couple of months. Which is what he had to go through here.

He’s 63, for crying out loud, and that shit gets old, fast.

I firmly believe he’s here for another year. Besides, he has to validate (homage to skins game … golf), right?

I think the real question is, what’s more important to him, money and sustaining an already strong program, or establishing a tradition here at IU?
Think positively. Curt Cignetti will be here 10 years. Mike Woodson is no longer campus kingpin. There’s a new kid on the block who has moved in and all the neighborhood girls melt in his presence. He’s found his happy place and they’ve found his. One day there will be a bronze statue of his likeness on the grounds of The Rock Memorial Stadium.
