Surprised by the national media hate rhetoric regarding Indiana's CFP status.

You can't get around the fact that we don't look the part physically. Visually, just comparing bodies, we look the part of a mediocre BT also ran. What made us special was the mojo the O played with. Confidence, crisp passing, no dropped passes, very few penalties, no fumbles, no dumb plays......for the most part, gone the two 2nd halves of our two most important games. Almost completely shut down, and playing scared instead of playing with confidence. Quite a few other BT teams have good defenses and mediocre to bad offenses. That makes us Minnesota or Illinois or Iowa or Nebraska.

So.....I have absolutely no issue with other fanbases questioning our inclusion. There's no guarantee our O can get its s*** together. There's no doubt that the IU team that played Nebraska belonged. The D has improved. The O just needs to get its mojo back. I'll be there Saturday hoping it does.
Urban Meyer disagrees with this.

Sec of Education - Holy Moly

I got accepted to law school at Cornell, notre dame, and Wash u. Rejected at Unc and UF. I went public. Still went to the firm I wanted in fla. Targeted partners not hr. Explain to me why Davidson is worth it. Vandy. Emory. Over iu or some other public. Unless they are brain surgeons or top engineers at Tesla or Wharton hedge fund types most people will do the same shit. Oracle. Grant Thornton. Sell med equipment for Stryker.

Hey joe I like these two a lot. Sarah with a 3.8 at mizzou and Sara with a 3.6 at Davidson. Well Mike Sarah with an H probably overcame anxiety, sexual assault, alcoholism, $2 white claw nights, and Fomo with all the shit she was invited to while getting her degree while Sara sat in the Davidson library and scored marginally better. Unfortunately Sara probably isn’t as well equipped to deal with handsy doctors, being passed over for promotion, and screamed at.

I will add my buddy’s daughter went to Davidson. Was no fun. Stressed out. Transferred and was way happier. After that first door, job, I don’t think people care that much. Hell who even knows what these kids will do. Start their own businesses
I didn't know Davidson was that tough a school or even well-thought of.

IU Louisville Game Discussion

I was upset that I couldn’t get this game on TV. Sounds like it was a good thing I wasn’t able to watch it reading all the comments here.

I was hoping that Woodson could turn things around this year but doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Like someone said, this is beginning to to look like Archie’s 4th year. I’m 73, been a life long fan. Had family members play basketball & football at IU. This is about as low as I’ve seen things. Even worse than the Lou Watson years. I was looking forward to this season but not sure if I can stick it out unless things take a sharp reversal.

I don’t think you can hold Dolsen responsible for this mess. It’s all on QB & his cronies. I really think Dolsen was ready to fire Woody but they forced his hand. It appears he made a good hire in Cignati, time will tell. If he’s going to fire Woody I hope it’s sooner than later and not wait till the end of the season

Maybe I'm not the fan anymore that some of you are

30 years and about three or four (at most) notable seasons.

Eh …
I'd say 99-00 before rhe three game losing streak to end the season. 01-02 ofcourse, 07-08 before Sampson mess came about again, 11-12,12-13,15-16 and thats about it. 2022-2023 was close to being good, a couple losses more than should have been.

Auburn is #4 in hoops. Wtf

We graduate all of our players, we place a higher value on academics than other programs, we do things the right way, we don't hire coaches who are aggressive in recruiting, we're proud of the fact that we win championships without future NBA stars.

Basically, think of all the cultural things that Coach Knight espoused over the years. These things become part of your essence. And, to me, these things have been the single biggest reason our program has been mediocre (at best) since RMK left.

And, I should add, that an institution's culture is not just these tangible things. In other words, somebody might say "Hey, we are going after the 5 star guys who will be one and dones now...and we are doing NIL, etc." That's true, and they're steps in the right direction.

But that's the easy part. The harder part is the underlying sentiments.

Let me put it this way: I bet most IU basketball faithful would agree that we'd never hire a coach like Bruce Pearl. And they're probably right about that.

The fact that we wouldn't -- and we all know we wouldn't? That's our problem.

Craze, the IU culture, as you so elegantly describe it, fit the olden days culture of the student athlete.

Today with the NIL and portal recruiting culture the student athlete culture is long gone.

Some 70 years ago I had a long discussion about how important Big Ten sports were to me as a student attending college with a professor who taught at a college with only intramural sports.

Could it be the closest thing to the IU culture these days would be intramural sports with emphasis on the importance of a good education and attaining a high average grade point?

I made the mistake of going to the game against Auburn in ATL. While it was nice to spend time with my son, it was a pathetic showing and I decided it would be the last game I pay to attend in person while Woodson is here. He rarely has his team ready to play. And after watching the first 12-14 minutes of this game today, it was clear nothing has changed.
I'm amazed this still happened with this upgraded roster. Sure we could lose, but another total blowout, and this time vs a not so great team? It's incredible.
