Kansas head coach Bill Self was scheduled to visit New Albany five-star guard Romeo Langford (6-4, 185 pounds, No. 6 player nationally) this week. However, Self sent an assistant instead.

Our Kansas site doesn’t seem to think much of this and they still feel like they are in a great spot in the recruitment.

Obviously Indiana and Vanderbilt are also still involved. As far as we’re concerned, all three schools are still recruiting him and they’re all three still in the mix.

Corey Evans got an update on La Lumiere four-star forward Isaiah Stewart (6-8, 230 pounds, No. 32 player nationally). Duke, Notre Dame among those involved - https://basketballrecruiting.rivals...ut-list-soon-will-focus-on-high-school-season

I still think the Hoosiers have an outside shot here. Stewart has a relationship with Thomas Bryant and likes this coaching staff. But they aren’t in the drivers seat at this point.

We saw 2019 Cathedral guard Armaan Franklin this week. He’s picked up offers from Butler, Xavier and Ohio State recently, with Purdue evaluating him twice and IU’s Bruiser Flint has watched him.
You can see those highlights here - https://indiana.rivals.com/news/scouting-notes-armaan-franklin-vs-carmel .

Look for quotes from him and his coach this afternoon.

Finally, Rivals updated their rankings across the board this week. We have some IU related notes below.

Could we see more of freshman forward Clifton Moore the remainder of the season? Based on IU head coach Archie Miller's comments Thursday night, it seems so.

To this point, Moore has played in just five of the Hoosiers' 17 games this season and only of their five Big Ten games, logging 23 minutes in total and playing no more than seven in each of those five contests.

But with sophomore center De'Ron Davis out for the remainder fo the season due to Achilles surgery and junior forward Juwan Morgan bearing more of the offensive load in the paint, Miller said there will be more opportunities for Moore.

Miller said with giving Morgan rest, there's probably a couple windows/opportunities where they could give Moore some spurts. Miller said it was "inevitable" that Moore will get those chances.

It was also interesting to hear from Miller about what lineup he felt he's had the most success with. This may not surprise some, but he singled out "the lineup with Zach McRoberts, Rob (Johnson), Josh (Newkirk), Justin (Smith), (and) Juwan Or Collin." With Davis out for the remainder of the season, it wouldn't be surprising to see one of those two lineups the remainder of the season. However, as he does every game, Miller also adjust those lineups based on the plus/minus of certain players.

Recruiting Insider:

IU is starting to welcome in 2018 visitors that are planning to sign by the original signing day in early-February, and their first visitor is 3-star defensive end Jonathan King, who is making his way into town today on his official visit to IU.

King was a teammate of IU quarterback signee Mike Penix at Tampa Bay Tech High School and a was 4-year starter on the defensive line. He recorded 20.5 career sacks and caused mayhem all over the place in the trenches, forcing four fumbles, recovering five and blocking two field goals as well. The IU coaching staff has been very excited about King’s visit on Twitter, as it welcomes in one of its top targets left in the 2018 field.

Another IU target at the same position is Ventura (CA) CC defensive end Kenny Turnier, who has only played football for three years (two seasons) and was once a part of the Oregon State football program until he tore his ACL in his freshman year. He has three years of eligibility remaining in his career but is likely seen as the option behind King on the defensive line. He will be visiting IU the weekend of Jan. 26.

A third 2018 recruit visiting IU this month is 3-star defensive back Jamar Johnson out of Sarasota, Florida. Johnson is an interesting recruit because he has size at 6-foot-2, 182 pounds, but he said he feels most comfortable at cornerback, though he can play other places on the field as well. Safeties coach Noah Joseph has been his primary recruiter out of IU and has told Johnson that he likes how the DB can play anywhere in the secondary. Tom Allen has said that he would like another “safety body” in this class, so whether or not Johnson likes that idea is yet to be seen. He will visit IU on the weekend of Jan. 19 and then visit Washington State — the other school in Johnson’s final two — shortly after his Bloomington visit.
