New verbal Jayme Thompson played at Ohio State

Wonder why the kid would downgrade from a 4 star coming out of high school to a 3 star coming out of JUCO?

It's a little like when college basketball players wait to go pro until their junior or senior seasons. Less potential and all their flaws as a player are more glaringly obvious. Also, sometimes they miss on a kid an overrate him out of high school, but upon closer review they realize he's good but not great. It could also be that the 2016 class is stronger than the 2013 class, so relative to the group he's not as highly ranked.

At the end of the day, this is a great pickup for Wilson and Co. and him being a December Grad helps immensely towards getting him up to speed for the 2016 season.

Also, he broke his ankle in fall camp of his freshman year, so the injury might be setting him back in the eyes of the rating services.

When can jucos sign? Hopefully soon.
He is a December grad, so he can sign in mid December and enroll in classes in January. He will be able to partake in the Hoosiers winter conditioning program and spring ball. By the time summer rolls around he should be pretty comfortable with what the Hoosiers are trying to do on defense.

Because he verballed to IU. He goes back to OSU or Michigan and he'd be a 4 star in Rivals's eyes. Still a very good pick up for us.

The kid was forced out at Ohio St, why would he go back? He was simply over ranked and got recruited over at Ohio St. Good player, just not good enough to start at OSU.

How exactly do you know he was over ranked? He got hurt his freshman year.

Paying attention and arguing simply based on "stars" will frustrate a person. He's a very good player and addition regardless of what some recruiting service thought of him.

He got hurt and then was passed on depth chart. If he was playing or saw a chance to play in the near future, why would he transfer out? I'm not saying the kids not a good player, I was simply responding to the question of why was he a 4 star out of HS and only a 3 star coming out of JC. It's not a conspiracy as some think it is.
