1st Inning:

T1st:

Glasser walked to lead off. Jessee hit into a DP. Pyne hit into a GO.

B1st:

Manase is on the mound for IU.
An error in RF by Mathison allowed the leadoff hitter to reach 3B and Manase gave up a walk to the next hitter.
A SF scored the runner from 3rd for an unearned run with the runner on 1st thrown out at 2B for two outs.
Another walk and a GO ended the inning.

2nd Inning:

T2nd:

Mathison and Whalen both K'd, Tibbetts was hit by a pitch to reach, and Ellis K'd to end IU's 2nd.

B2nd:

A GO, walk, and a foul out to Ellis resulted in two outs and a runner on 1st with Manase already having 3 walks in the game. A flyout ended the inning.

3rd Inning:

T3rd:

With the 9, 1 and 2 hitters up, IU went down in order.

B3rd:

The Longhorns went down in order.

4th Inning:

T4th:

IU went down in order with a Jessee GO, a foul out by Pyne, and a GO by Mathison.

B4th:

A leadoff double put a man on. Two flyouts and a pop up ended the inning with the runner stranded at 3rd.

5th Inning:

T5th:

A hit batter puts Whalen on in the leadoff spot.

Tibbetts singled to the pitcher and reached 2nd on an error by the pitcher as Whalen took 3rd to put runners at 2nd and 3rd and no outs and we are at the bottom of the order.

Ellis is hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs and Vecrumba pinch runs for Ellis.

The freshman Devin Taylor hitting in the 8th spot as the DH, walks to drive in a run to make it 1-1 as the starting pitcher for Texas is having some real control problems.

Goforth popped out to 2B for the first out and the bases still loaded and brings up the top of the order.
Glasser hits into a DP to end IU's half of the inning and we end up with one run after having the bases loaded and no outs. No clutch hitting.

B5th:

Ryan Kraft relieves Manase who was at 58 pitches.

After getting the leadoff hitter on a GO, Kraft gave up a walk, a single, and a walk to load the bases with one out.

Another single scored two runs with the hitter reaching 2B after an error by Tibbitts at 1st.

With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, another single scores another run to make it 4-1.

With runners on the corners and one out, Kraft gets a K for the 2nd out.

After a K got the 2nd out, Goforth committed the second error of the inning which scored another run with the runner taking 2nd base and the score at 5-1. A GO ended the inning with two of the four runs scored being unearned. The three errors in this game so far have resulted in three unearned runs.

6th Inning:

T6th:

Texas goes to their bullpen and IU is at the 2 thru 4 hitters. Jessee walked to lead off.

Pyne flied out and Mathison walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd and one out.

Whalen walked to load the bases without a hit and Texas goes to their bullpen again with Tibbetts at the plate.

Tibbetts reaches on a fielder's choice scoring Jessee and runners on the corners with two outs.

Colopy's hitting slump to start the season continues as he flied out to end another big chance for IU to score runs. The lack of clutch hitting to go along with sloppy fielding has really hurt us today. IU has just one hit through six innings.

B6th:

Langerman goes behind the plate and Cerny goes to 2B replacing Goforth.

It's the 8, 9, and 1 hitters for Texas with Yoho replacing Kraft on the mound.

Here we go again as Yoho puts the first two batters (bottom of the order) on with a leadoff walk and a hit batter.

Yoho gets a K and then gets back-to-back pop ups to get out of the jam and end the inning.

7th: Inning:

T7th:

Taylor grounds out and Cerny walks to put a man on and one out.

With the top of the order up in Glasser, Texas goes to the bullpen again. Our offense today has been primarily walks and hit batters. One hit on the day just isn't going to cut it.

Glasser reaches on a fielder's choice with Cerny out at 2nd and Jessee then K's to end IU's 7th.

B7th:

Luke Hayden replaced Yoho on the mound and he puts them down in order to end the inning.

8th Inning:

T8th:

IU goes down in order.

B8th:

Whiteaker replaces Hayden on the mound and he puts them down in order.

9th Inning:

T9th:

IU is down to their last three outs and the 6 thru 8 hitters are up.

We got a pinch hit single from De Goti for just the second hit of the game for IU, but two Ks and a GO ended the game.

I guess pitching a bright spot as unearned runs from defense killed is but the on paper great offense barely hit anything hard. Jealous of Iowa spanking #1 LSU 12-4 today and Terps embarrassing ole miss last night are leading again today

The lack of hitting and a porous defense cost us in this game where Texas had just four hits. A disastrous 5th inning was the inning where the roof kind of fell in on us. The unearned runs in this game were the difference in the game since they scored three unearned runs. Tibbetts was the only starter to get a hit with De Goti getting a pinch-hit single in the 9th.

Manase had a good outing in the start and gave up just one unearned run after the three-base error to start the game. Manase went 4 IP with 1 hit, no earned runs, 3 BB, 2 Ks. When Kraft came in to relieve Manase it was a combination of walks, hitters finding the holes in the infield, and two errors that combined to score four runs and be the difference in the game.

Mathison continues his slump at the plate and I believe he finished the game with his BA at .080. We had bases loaded two innings in the row. We had the bases loaded in the 5th with no outs and managed just one run and then had the bases loaded again in the 6th with one out and came up empty.

We are in the same position as the Auburn series in hoping to salvage one game in the series tomorrow.

I had a major brain fart when I had Langerman coming into the game in the 6th and going to center when he's a catcher and I don't think he would work out too well in the CF position.
