IU drops series finale
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
-- Indiana dropped consecutive games and the weekend series to Michigan State, as the Spartans escaped with a 3-2 victory in the final contest of Sunday's doubleheader at Bart Kaufman Field.

After one of Indiana's best offensive performances of the season to open the series with a 6-1 win on Friday, the Hoosiers suffered two of their worst on Sunday, combining for six hits in two losses Sunday, including one in MSU's 7-0 win to begin the day.

Michigan State scored a pair of runs in the top of the second for a 2-0 lead, doing all of their damage with two outs. A 2-RBI double brought in two Spartans, who reached base on a single and a walk.

MSU loaded the bases with another walk and a HBP, but a pop up to Austin Cangelosi stranded three runners on base.

Will Nolden led the Hoosiers with three hits, matching a career high, while batting in IU's first run on a single in the fifth.

Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, Craig Dedelow led off the bottom of the frame with a double, going on to score after a pair of IU groundouts.

Indiana struck out nine batters, including five from Luke Harrison, who set a season high in three scoreless innings of work. Scott Effross finished the game, giving up just one hit in two innings.
