Indiana, 8-5 winner in a very competitive series with LBSU

Happy Mothers Day!
Baragar worked 4.2 innings as the starter: 4H, 4R, 2BB & 4SO (80 pitches/19 batters). Foote worked 0.1 innings: 1H (9 pitches/2batters). Belcher came in to relieve him in the T5.
LBSU goes 1, 2, 3.
Sowers doubles after 1 out which sparks a 2nd reliever to enter the game for the Dirtbags, but is left stranded.
Tied at 4 after six innings.

LBSU gets a solo HR to take back the lead.
Cangelosi reaches on an error to lead off the Indiana half of the inning, Wilhite SAC bunt moves him to 2nd, Rodigue doubles and ties the game (pitching change), GO followed by Hartong, Donley and Sowers singles scoring 2 runs (pitching change), Donley comes in to score on a WP, Dedelow gets a walk on a 3-2 pitch (runners on 1st & 2nd), Nolden takes a walk on a 3-1 pitch to fill the bases (pitching change), before a SO ends the inning.
Seems to be a good crowd at the Bart and they are into it.
LBSU, 8-5 after seven innings.

Belcher is the pitcher of record and goes 2.1 innings: 1H, 1R & 1 SO. Halstead in to relive him for the 8th inning; faces 4 batters and gets 2 SO.
FO, GO and a SO ends the inning.
Indiana needs 3 outs to win this series against a very good and competitive team.

LBSU with a FO, a SO, a hit batter and a FO to end the game. Headed to Ball State for a mid week game before the final B10 series in B'ton with OSU. Nebraska (tied for 7th with IU) in a rain delayed start. Minnesota is behind against Iowa.
Indiana, an 8-5 winner and takes the series against LBSU.

Indiana secures the series
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
-- Indiana used a dominating seventh inning to take control of Sunday's 8-5 win vs. Long Beach State, a victory that gave IU its fifth series win of the season.

Long Beach State scored two runs in the first inning and added solo scores in the third, fifth and seventh frames. Every time the Dirtbags added one run, the Hoosiers bested their effort, including the seventh stanza, when IU tallied four runs to take the lead for good.

Trailing 5-4 thanks to a LBSU solo home run, IU responded with timely hitting and took advantage of a Dirtbag error on the flipside of the frame.

Casey Rodrigue, who clocked all three of his hits for extra bases, recorded his second double in the seventh to tie the game, scoring Austin Cangelosi, who reached on a leadoff error.

Brad Hartong, Scott Donley and Logan Sowers added singles, including runs batted in by Hartong and Sowers to increase the advantage to 7-5. Sowers scored on a wild pitch for the exclamation point and the final score of 8-5.

IU's first three batters in the rotation -- Rodrigue, Nick Ramos and Hartong -- all recorded a pair of RBI.

Indiana tallied eight strikeouts, including four from starting LHP Caleb Baragar and three from RHP Ryan Halstead, who earned his ninth save of the season. RHP Thomas Belcher picked up the win, tossing 2.1 innings, giving up just one hit.

Long Beach State raced out to a lead for the third straight game in the series, this time scoring three runs before the Hoosiers could get on the board, including a pair on a first-inning home run.

The Dirtbags tagged on another run in the top of the third on a double and an RBI single, until IU began chipping away in the bottom of the frame.

Facing two outs, Rodrigue's HBP put the senior on base in the bottom of the third. Back-to-back RBIs fromNick Ramos (double) and Hartong (single) pulled the Hoosiers within one (3-2).

LBSU scored on a solo home run in the fifth inning, but the Hoosiers would again respond with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.

Rodrigue and Ramos were once again in the middle of the action, with Rodrigue tripling to score Cangelosi and Ramos blasting a ball to left field for the tying sacrifice fly, setting up IU's big seventh inning.

I go to all the games and was there today as all weekend. IU looked good at bat all series. Our starting pitching gave up to many runs but the relief was very good for the most part. We can still get an at large bid to the NCAA but will need to keep hitting well and get that starting pitching up to snuff. I like how this team is playing better. They look a lot like the old Indiana of the last 2 years. Gutsy effort all weekend. GO IU
