T6th:

Sinnard gets the leadoff hitter on a GO and then gives up a single with one out. A pop up to RF and a GO retired the side.

B6th:

Its the 8, 9, and 1 hitters up and so far IU hitters are getting handcuffed for the 2nd straight day by the starting pitcher who has a PC of 61.

Cerny got his 2nd hit of the day with a leadoff double.

Surruto grounded out moving Cerny to 3B and the top of the order is up in Glasser.

Glasser was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners with one out.

Whalen walked to load the bases with one out with Jessee up, and it looked like the GU starting pitcher was starting to lose it.

Jessee singled to LF to score Cerny and Glasser to make it 3-2 GU with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, and that chased the starter as GU goes to the bullpen.

The pitcher coming in had yet to give up a run over 5 IP and he faced Pyne.

Pyne walked to load the bases with one out and that brought up Mathison.

Mathison grounded out to SS with Whalen scoring to tie the game at 3-3, and Tibbitts grounded out to end the inning.

Yoho replaced Sinnard on the mound and Sinnard pitched well today giving up 3 runs over 6 IP with just two of those earned. Yoho would face the bottom of the order.

Yoho got the first two batters on a K and a GO, but then gave up a two-out single.

Yoho then faced the top of the order and walked the next batter to put two on and two outs.

Yoko K'd the next batter to end the threat.

B7th:

It's the bottom of the order up for IU and Colopy grounded out leading off.

Cerny singled for his third hit of the day, and he advanced to 2nd on a balk, bringing up Serruto in the No. 9 spot with one out.

Serruto singled to CF to put runners on the corners with one out and the top of the order up in Glasser, and the Hoyas go to the bullpen again. The Hoyas brought in a lefty to face the lefty Glasser with the pitcher coming in not having great numbers early on in the season giving up four ERs over 3 IP.

Glasser reached on a FC to score Cerny which gave IU their first lead of the game at 4-3, with Serruto out at 2nd for two outs. The Hoyas went to the bullpen again to bring in a pitcher with 6.2 IP and no ERs.

Glasser was caught stealing to end the inning.

IU was handcuffed early on by the Hoya starter and had 3 errors on the game with two by Mathison in RF. IU hit into two DPs early on also. Cerny was perfect at the plate going 3 for 3. A hit by Jessee scored two RBIs. Sinnard pitched well but did not get the win. Sinnard went 6 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs with 2 runs earned, 6 Ks, and 2 BBs.
Kraft picked up where he left off in the last Texas game where he pitched three scoreless innings to close it out, and he went 2 scoreless innings in the game to close it and get the save, and did not give up a hit while getting 3 Ks and no BBs.

At least in the early going, it looks like we may finally have a closer that can come in shut down the bats with Kraft having his second straight outstanding effort in closing out games. Kraft did have that one bad inning at Texas which I believed was the 2nd game of the series before turning things around in the final game of that series. I have my fingers crossed that he will continue to be that guy.

Tomorrow's opponent, Long Beach State is now 6-3 after beating ECU today, 3-2. Naturally, we saw ECU's best pitcher yesterday. It will be Manase on the mound for IU and it will be Nico Zeglin on the mound for the Dirtbags. Zeglin has good numbers early on in the season and has gone 9.1 IP, ERA 2.89, 14 Ks, 1 BB, and an OBA of .243. I'm assuming the early start tomorrow (11 a.m.) is because of a time limit cutoff on the game with LBSU needing to get back out to the coast.
